Enhances the flavor of fish and casseroles
Coarse gray sea salt is the product of water evaporation, caused by the combined effect of the sun and wind, in the clay-bottom basins of the salt marshes. The crystals are simply harvested, drained and then sieved.
Our sea salt is a source of minerals (sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium) and trace elements (iron, manganese, zinc).
Did you know? Nearly 3,000 tonnes of sea salt are harvested each year on Noirmoutier Island.
Why choose La Maison Orphée?
Our salt, harvested by hand in the salt marshes of Noirmoutier Island, undergoes other techniques than sun drying and grinding when we want to obtain a finer grain. This artisanal process leaves the salt with its natural gray color.
