Meet Mike, Our New Grain Guy!

Meet Mike, Our New Grain Guy!

Mike Davis started working here in December of 2017 and he is a very welcome addition to the team. Mike grew up in nearby Estevan, and has been a musician since he was 16. He was in a band when he was younger, and moved out to Vancouver to pursue his music. After a couple years of West Coast life, he moved back to the heart of the prairies. He was married in 2008 to his wife Lindsay and moved out to North Portal. They have a precious daughter Natalie and two cute kitties.  He is still very musical and...

Kaylah Turner

Kaylah started working with us in the fall of 2015. She is a local mother of two and longtime friend who was looking for some part time work. It has been a great fit! Kaylah started coming out a couple days a week to help with preparing and delivering small orders. Since then, she has taken on more responsibility and now manages our order desk. She is a pleasure to work with and we are so happy to have her.Kaylah and I have been friends for over 10 years now. She can be classified as a non-committal hippie. She loves...

Alvin Scheresky

Alvin founded this mill in the 1964, and at that time it was called Scheresky Mill. He had a lifetime of knowledge on grains, soil, health and lifestyle in his head. Without his dedication, there would not be a Daybreak Mill today. In the beginning, Alvin was growing, cleaning, milling, packaging AND delivering all of the products at the mill. He would load up his truck, and head out West stocked with grains, flours and cereals. He always came back with an empty truck, and was always able to make a living doing this. Things have changed in 60 years -...

Ray & Marianne Aspinall

Ray & Marianne spent 9 years working to make Daybreak Mill what it is today.  They worked hard to make Daybreak a successful business.  Although they are not a part of our staff any longer, I feel that they still deserve credit because without them, there would be no Daybreak Mill. In 2012, Ray & Marianne made the decision to semi-retire.  They handed over the reins of responsibility to me (Nicole) in January, and did some travelling and mission work through the cold months of winter.  They moved to High River, AB after that but returned to the farm every...

Brock Aspinall

Brock Aspinall

Brock is the man who makes all of our flours and cereals.  He has been working here since August of 2006 down in the mill room, making the magic happen.  He makes sure that everything we sell is top quality, and does a great job of this.  There are piles of skids down at the mill full of product, and it never ceases to amaze me that he somehow keeps it all organized.  He is our resident “Mill Man” and we’re very lucky to have him. Any Daybreak Mill products that you receive, he has created. Brock lives here on...
